LHMS offers young children a unique day camp experience where they can explore & enjoy the summer season's natural rhythm in a fun, nurturing and peaceful environment. The core Montessori principles of confidence, independence and peace are woven throughout the curriculum. There are many opportunities for children to engage in both self-directed activities & cooperative play. LHMS camp days are filled with nature studies, outdoor fun, gardening, building, singing and much more. In addition, each week features a variety of activities designed around a focused theme. We look forward to sharing this special setting with your child!

Camp runs from 9am – 12:30pm, Monday – Friday.  Please send a packed lunch, children will eat together. We are a nut-aware environment. The fee for each session (1 week) is $250. Children registered before Thursday, March 17th will receive a $50 discount. LHMS camp welcomes all children ages 3 -7.  


Camp Session 1: June 12th – June 16th
The Human Body
Children will have fun learning about all the systems of the body. We will explore the human body and skeletal system. We will learn that a full grown human will have 206 bones, that our lungs help us breath and much more.

Camp Session 2 : June 19th - June 23rd
Exploring the Biomes
We’ll study elements of the biomes: animals, air, energy, plants, soil and water.  We’ll visit our own biome, the Temperate Forest, on the playground of our camp where we’ll collect soil, leaves and seeds.

Camp Session 3: June 26th - June 30th
Solar System
Through hands on art and science activities, children will build their understanding of the Solar System and Outer Space. Songs, story - telling and fun activities will make this camp a BLAST!

Camp Session 4: July 10th - 14th
Science
The children will become Scientists and embark on a series of science experiments! They will learn about science through interactive and hands-on science activities.

Camp Session 5: July 17th - July 21st
Eric Carle Book Club
This week we will focus on Eric Carle. We will celebrate and explore his books through storytelling, author studies, movement,
music and art.

Camp Session 6: July 24th - July 28th
Art from Around the World
The cThe children will create various art from around the world such as Aboriginal Dot Art, self portrait in the style of Freda Kahlo and much more. Art is a great way for all of us to see the world in our own way and express ourselves!


TIME: Camp begins at 9:00am and ends at 1:00pm. Please send a lunch and drink each day. Children will bring their work home on Fridays.

Please accompany your child through the arrival and dismissal process each day they attend camp. If you need to drop off or pick up your child at an hour other than the designated times, please let us know.

To ensure the enjoyment and safety of all campers, LHMS reserves the right to dismiss campers in the unlikely event there are discipline issues. Parents or guardians will be contacted by phone to arrange child pickup. No refund will be granted to those unable to complete a camp session.

WHAT TO BRING (please label everything!):

  • lunch
  • water bottle
  • sunscreen (please apply suncreen prior to drop off. According to New Jersey Department of Children and Families, we are not allowed to apply sunscreen)
  • shoes/sneakers for running
  • water shoes for the water table and sprinkler fun (Please no flip flops or crocs.)
  • extra clothes for varying weather (Camp takes place rain or shine, so please make sure your child brings appropriate clothing.)

Parental/Guardian Photo Release Consent Form*

Photo Release allows us to use camper photos for publications (no names are labeled on photos).

Medical Attention Authorization *

This authorizes LHMS staff to take child/children to specified doctor or hospital and secure treatment if necessary. (This information provided/requested on LHMS Camp Enrollment Agreement.)

Pick Up Approval *

Pick Up Approval states who has your permission to pick up your camper. (This information was requested on LHMS Camp Enrollment Agreement. If information was not provided, we will follow up with you. Children will not be released to anyone other than names listed. A written permission must be provided.)

Full Payment, to guarantee your camper’s spot in the requested camp(s) #

Camp spots are reserved on first come first serve basis by full payment. Simply reserving a spot does not guarantee enrollment until payment is received. To ensure your camper’s spot in camp, payment must be received.
